Is steretyping happening today?

As an arab american i find it hard to believe when i cross a bridge im getting pulled over every time its because its random and not because my last name is Mohammed. Has anyone, not just arab felt you were stereotyped and how do you keep your composure if you just know its because what you look like. It could be the same if you go on an interview and someone looks at you wrong because you are an openly gay individual or they just prejudge you and you know the drill. How do you deal with it?
